Spring is in the Air

With spring only days away, local events schedules are kicking off. The local mountains are offering several free concerts over the next few weeks to add to the great spring skiing. Day temperatures have been in the 50’s and 60’s and then cooling at night to keep the snow around. It doesn’t get much better then skiing around with the family in sunglasses and a t-shirt on your Park City ski rentals. Come out and enjoy the last year weeks of skiing in the Wasatch. March is almost upon us and it really felt like Spring skiing a few days this week. What’s better than wearing a light jacket and absolutely tearing it up on the slopes? Not much! Skiing in Park City, Utah is wonderful right now. Consistent snowfall and cool evenings have made this a great year of skiing. I had the opportunity to ski with a few friends yesterday and we cruised around all of Park City Mountain Resort and had a great time! Some friends rented snowboards from a Park City Ski Shop and they had a blast! I rented my Volkl Gotama’s from a great Park City Ski Rental Shop and I couldn’t have been happier with them. Get out and enjoy the beauty!

King Con at PCMR

Is there a better place to slay turns in the world? I don’t know. If you like bending those skis, make sure to swing by the King Con lift at Park City Mountain Resort. The ultimate time to arrive there is 9 AM. Take the Silver Star lift up and you’ll be the first skier there. A multitude of moderately steep runs will be groomed for your arcing pleasure. President’s Day Marks the End of the Busy Season

For those spoiled powder hounds out there that refuse to ski when the slopes are busy, we are approaching your time of year. After President’s day there are no holiday’s to fill the slopes. For people pulling into town without skis, Park City Ski Shops have plenty of inventory to go around. On the big days I suggest the Volkl Mantra. At 97mm underfoot with a metal top sheet it is the perfect all-mountain tool. Whether it is a 36 inch over night dump or the last snow hasn’t come for two weeks the Mantra will not treat you wrong. This ski and other great all-mountain rippers are available for ski rental in Park City. Find your way to the slope when no one else is!

It is now February, giving everyone plenty of time to warm up. Slow skiing is over, its time open up those turns and experience the true feeling of skiing. Park City Ski Shops have plenty of skis that would be the perfect tool for the job. Although we have not had a record breaking snowfall, the skiing is still amazing! Groomed runs and off-piste packed powder are the cream of the crop right now. Pick up some ski rentals and head out for some fast skiing. i suggest finding steep groomed runs to solidify your Olympic dreams.

Do Boots Make a Difference?

The answer is yes. Whether renting or buying ski boots it is very important that you find the right boot. It is a common misconception that the boots that feel comfortable off the shelf will be the ones putting you on the podium out on the hill. To all the skiers out there trying to elevate their skiing, you don’t want the slipper feel. Boots that perform well need to fit tight. Skiers that are advanced to expect want to ask their helpful Park City Ski Shop employee about flex and a performance fit to optimize the skiing experience. Many rental shops now offer a performance boot that is available for renting. Just because your using ski rentals does not mean you have to sacrifice quality equipment.

Great Skiing During Sundance

Arcing in Park City

Today the skiing in Park City was absolutely amazing. I skied on the new Rossignol CX80, which hold an edge very well on packed snow. Ski Shops have plenty of new ski rentals to go around. I strongly suggest stopping by a Park City Ski Shop to see what is available next time you head out to do some arcing.
